In Tucker Valley Chaguaramas along the Macqueripe Road lies an area that has been named the Bamboo Cathedral. This is so since towering stands of bamboo arc over the roadway to create an area with a cathedral-like ambiance. This area has been in existence for more than 150 years and Trinidad’s great nineteenth century artist and national hero Michel Jean Cazabon painted various watercolours of this area, and in his honour this route was named the Cazabon Trail. This area provides an opportunity for a vigorous uphill walk, a stroll or cycle, while enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. Venturing off the roadway and into the trees alongside it, one can enjoy the sights of various birds.
