Hike Rating Scale Courtesy HIKE NATION
HikeNation uses its own 6.0 Rated Scale to indicate the difficulty of our hikes. We have broken it down into three general
groups: Novice, Challenger & Explorer. Novice hike level is geared towards first time hikers, persons who are not that
physically active. The difficulty rating is easy to moderate; ranging between 1 & 2. Challenger hike level is geared towards
persons who have an average level of physical fitness, with a difficulty range between 3 & 4. Explorer hike level is geared
towards those who wish to go beyond such hikes. Some may not always be difficult but can be quite long; rating range
between 5 & 6. However, we do not carry hikers on any trails that are rated 6.
Rated 1: Easy
Under 30 min, simple flat land walking, with few turns, wide open trail.
These hikes usually have well marked out paths.

minor hill climbs, You may have to hop over a tree trunk or two with a greater distance to cover.
Rated 3: Moderate
Average of 40 min – 1 hr, hikes such as these involve constant hill work,
There are usually a lot of ups and downs, The trails also require some navigation.

by the novice hiker under the watch of a tour guide.

done by adventurers or explorers who want to wander the unbeaten paths.
Lastly, all our hikes are rated with the info given and reference can be made to this chart for clarification.
Please note though, the times suggested are only estimations. The overall hike duration ultimately
depends on how fast the entire hike group walks. Lastly, some hikes may be one level going down and another level
coming back up.
